Brake, transmission, exhaust and glass work is often done by specialty shops that see the same job dozens of times a week. Brake shops replace pads and rotors the same day and usually inspect for free; transmission shops rebuild or replace automatics and clutches, a multi-day job that deserves a second quote; muffler and exhaust shops weld custom pipes and replace catalytic converters, which in many states must meet emissions rules. Alignment and suspension shops fix pulling, uneven tire wear and worn shocks, and radiator shops handle overheating and cooling-system leaks. Auto glass shops replace windshields, often at your home or office, and recalibrate the driver-assistance cameras mounted behind the glass. Window tinting and car audio shops round out the group.

Lakeland is in Florida, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Lakeland follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. I pulled into my driveway after a long day, ready to unwind. As I stepped out of the car, something felt off. I walked around to the front and froze. The VIN plate on my vehicle was completely destroyed—gouged, scratched beyond recognition, like someone had taken a tool to it on purpose. My heart sank. That number is basically the car’s identity, and now it was gone. I hadn’t noticed anything at the store earlier. No warning, no apology, not even a casual “Hey, something happened while we were working on your car.” They just handed me the keys and smiled like everything was fine. I only found out once I got home. The anger hit me hard—not just because of the damage, but because they couldn’t be bothered to say a single word about it. I had no choice but to go back the next day. When I walked in and pointed out what they’d done, the staff finally admitted it. No excuses strong enough to cover it up this time. Just a quiet acknowledgment that yes, it was their fault. The whole trip back felt like a waste of time and gas that never should have been necessary. What should have been a simple errand turned into frustration, extra miles, and a reminder that some places still don’t underst

I had my windshield taken care of by Safelite and the whole experience was smooth from start to finish. Scheduling was easy, they arrived on time, and the tech walked me through what they were doing and how long it would take. The work itself looks clean and professional with no residue or mess left behind. I really appreciated the attention to detail and the respect for my vehicle – you can tell they take pride in their work. I’d definitely use this Safelite location again and recommend them to friends and family.

I do not like writing bad reviews but this glass replacement was terrible. My appointment was between 8-12. The tech got there at 12:30. No communication that he was running late. He asked me if he should just leave the keys in the vehicle when he’s done or hand them to me. I said to hand them to me. 1.5 hours later I got curious and went outside to look. The tech was gone and left my keys in the car. When I went to inspect the first thing I found was glass the size of my fingertip on the dashboard. The second thing was the tech never replaced the seal on the inside of my windshield. I contacted Safelite and they said they would have the tech call. He texted and told me that he vacuumed the glass that he could and that the glass that was remaining his vacuum wouldn’t pick up. They must have crappy vacuums because my vacuum cleaner was able to get it. The tech told me that I should get my car detailed if I want all the glass cleaned up. The glass was big enough to see but because his vacuum wouldn’t get it he just left it there and advised me to pay someone to clean up his mess. Then when I asked about the rubber seal that went around the inside of my windshield (04 Wrangler) he sai

“BE CAREFUL” I had an extremely frustrating and unacceptable experience with Safelite AutoGlass today. I booked a windshield replacement appointment for my BMW i8 between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM. This is not a simple job, as the vehicle requires proper in-shop calibration due to its advanced systems, which is exactly why I scheduled it correctly and followed their process. I arrived at approximately 12:30 PM, well within the confirmed appointment window. Despite this, the staff, including an assistant manager named Samantha, refused to take my car. Their reasoning was that I was “technically late” because, according to them, the appointment starts exactly at 12:00 PM. That makes absolutely no sense when the confirmed time clearly states a 12:00–1:00 PM window I have to drop my car for 4 hours. What made this situation even worse was their attitude. They were not just unhelpful, they were outright rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. There was no effort to assist, no attempt to find a solution, and no respect for the customer. When I questioned their logic, instead of handling it professionally, they responded with a careless attitude that clearly showed they do not value customers

Extremely disappointed with Safelite. I was originally given a service window between 12 PM and 5 PM on a Saturday. I rearranged my entire day to be available. It went past 5 PM — no technician, no call, no text, no ETA. Nothing. Trying to reach someone was nearly impossible. There is zero phone support! Everything is routed through AI systems that send you back to the website in circles. After significant effort, I finally got through to someone via text. They then scheduled me for a 6:00 AM appointment at the local shop the next morning. I showed up at 6:00 AM sharp — and the building was completely dark and locked. No lights on, no one at the front. I walked around back and fortunately found a very helpful shop employee who let me in. After speaking with him, he informed me that my glass was actually still with the technician who was working in a completely different region that day. So the 6:00 AM appointment should never have been scheduled in the first place. He suggested I come back at 2:00 PM, which I did. The windshield was eventually replaced successfully — that’s the only positive part of this experience. Given everything that transpired, I requested to speak with
